What You Should Know

Have you ever thought about the tools used for your auto body repair? Honestly, most people don't.

We want to be sure you know a little something about what happens to your vehicle while it's in our shop. Below are some tools we've invested in to make sure your auto body work is done correctly. If you are considering using a shop other than Royal, ask them about these tools:

  1. Resistance spot welder: Most vehicle manufacturers are requiring that you have a resistance spot welder. These new welders are needed for the new high strength steels that are being used on our customer vehicles. From a glance most customers wouldn't know the difference. When welding these new high strength steels an average mig welder will leave the area around the weld brittle and unsafe due to the high amount of heat given off during the weld process. Royal Auto Works has the latest welders to make sure you vehicle is safe and repaired appropriately.
  2. Computerized Laser Measuring equipment: Computerized laser measuring equipment along with frame machines is used to make sure that your vehicle is brought back into manufactures specifications. These computers can print out a copy of the specs for you if needed. Make sure the shop you choose has this for proper repairs to your vehicle.
  3. Nitrogen Plastic Welder: Doing repairs to plastic bumpers without a nitrogen welder can lead to cracks forming in the repaired area. With a nitrogen plastic welder your repairs to your plastic components are being replaced with the same type of plastic and bonded to your vehicle. Not just patch work.
  4. Waterborne paint & equipment: Most vehicle manufacturers are painting your vehicles with waterborne paint. This paint is safer for people and the environment. Also the color of waterborne paints is much more vibrant. Make sure the shop you use has waterborne paint so that the color matches more properly and the environment is cleaner also. With the waterborne paint shops should have proper painting facilities that will cure that paint properly so that it lasts. We are equipped with 2 downdraft paint booths that have been retrofitted with air flow machines to make sure the paint dries properly and limits the amount of dirt that can get into the paint.
